~더라도 [deorado] (Even if, even though)

Used to express a conditional statement meaning 'even if' or 'even though'.

Formation

Verb stem + 더라도 (or Adjective/Noun + 라도)

Examples

당신이 얼마나 시간을 많이 투자하더라도 그 결과가 만족스럽지 않으면 어떤가요?

Dangsini eolmana siganeul mani tujahadeorago geu gyeolgwa-ga manjogseureopji anheumyeon eotteongayo?

What if you invest a lot of time, but the result is not satisfactory?

나는 하루 종일 공부하더라도 시험에 떨어지면 내 노력이 무용지물이 되어버릴 거야.

Naneun haru jongil gongbuhadeorago siheome tteoreojimyeon nae noryeogi muyongjimurie do-eobeoril geoya.

Even if I study all day, if I fail the exam, my efforts will be wasted.

네가 얼마나 노력하더라도 그 목표를 이루지 못하면 어떨까요?

Nega eolmana noryeokhadeorago geu mokpyoreul iruji mothamyeon eotteolkka yo?

What if you work hard, but fail to achieve your goal?

나는 얼마나 일해도 돈이 모이지 않으면 힘들어요.

Naneun eolmana ilhaedo don-i moi ji anheumyeon himdeureoyo.

It's tough if I work so much and money doesn't accumulate.

Long Explanation

The pattern ~더라도 is used to present a condition that might be contrary to what is expected. It indicates that even if a certain condition holds, the outcome remains unchanged or is unsatisfactory.
