Processing keyword: (으)세요 [(eu)seyo] (Imperative form)
In Korean, giving polite commands or making respectful requests is essential due to the language's hierarchical nature. The grammar point (으)세요 is a polite imperative form used to tell someone to do something in a courteous manner. It is widely used in everyday conversations, especially when speaking to someone of equal or higher social status.
The suffix (으)세요 is attached to verb stems to form polite requests or commands. It conveys respect and politeness towards the listener.
The structure for forming this polite imperative is:
Verb Stem Ending | Add | Example Verb | Imperative Form |

Ends with a vowel | 세요 | 가다 (to go) | 가세요 |
Ends with a consonant | 으세요 | 먹다 (to eat) | 먹으세요 |
Form | Usage | Politeness Level | Example |
